Inside, the new Ri237 is outfitted with upholstery and new materials that raise the bar of not only Centurion, but also the entire tow boat industry. The tower also features an integral bimini top with board sleeves, Bombshell strapless board racks that swivel and a Downfire speaker system. It comes fitted with surf-side tow points as well as the usual one in the center. The tower folds down electrically on floating linear actuators. Centurion calls it the DropZone Auto Tower by Roswell. The Ri237 also comes with a special tower of a new design. The DropZone Auto Tower by Roswell is a unique feature that comes with a lot of bells and whistles to play with. That helps new riders when it’s time to let go of the rope and let the wakes push them rather than being pulled by the line.

Combined with the new hull design, the wakes from the Centurion Ri237 offer enough power to driver a wakesurfer forward from the curl all the way up the face of the wave.

The RamFill system works to fill the tanks in as little as 90 seconds, and you can jettison ballast as needed, even if the rider is in tow. The tanks extend from the transom to the back of the driver’s seat. The ballast system consists of two tanks built into the subfloor. In terms of watersports goods, the Ri237 delivers 2,550 pounds of stock ballast, with up to 5,100 pounds available. Centurion didn’t comment on whether they took the boat to dinner after the championships-but it’s entirely possible. True, the Centurion Ri237 pulled the IWWF World Wakeboarding Championships and the World Wake Surfing Championship. “The Ri237 is the only ‘have your cake and eat it, too’ water sports tow boat, combining world championship level wakesurfing with the same wakeboarding performance, and our design team has made it even better for 2019,” stated Paul Singer, President of Centurion & Supreme Boats. The Ri237’s strakes and chines do lift it higher out of the water, but a 50 percent better fuel economy? Charts and graphs please. Centurion also claims a 50 percent improvement in fuel efficiency over comparable tow boats from competitors, but let’s just say I have reservations about that figure. While tow boats may not be known for executing the smoothest ride, the Ri237 changes the game with its Opti-V hull to provide a better all around cruising experience. That steep deadrise-at least for a tow boat-cuts through chop for a smooth ride, another thing tow boats aren’t known for. It’s the cruising side that might not be apparent, and it’s made possible by a 20-degree deadrise on its Opti-V hull design, something you would never have seen on a watersports boat not too long ago. The watersports side is obvious, and we’ll get to that. The new Ri237 from Centurion presents something of a triple threat. He owned one boat for watersports and another for cruising and going to lakeside restaurants. And even if they did both well, they probably weren’t very good for cruising, what an industry friend of mine called a “go-to-dinner boat.” That’s right. For a while, the boats that served those markets were two different beasts. Wakeboarding and wakesurfing are different disciplines and they have different speed and wake requirements. They usually did one thing well, or two things okay, and any more requirements than that meant the boat was substandard in all of them-jack of all trades, master of none. There was once a time not too long ago that you couldn’t get a boat to do too many things well.
